The SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care, Education and Parenting was among the focus of a working visit by the Minister of Education to Jakarta, Indonesia. As the President of the SEAMEO Council for 2025 2027, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh holds an important role to promote cooperation among SEAMEO Member Countries, by paying courtesy calls to SEAMEO Council Members and making official visits to the SEAMEO Regional Centres or Network.

 

While in Indonesia, Yang Berhormat also made a visit to the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement for Teachers and Education Personnel in Science, and the Regional Centre for Quality Improvement for Teachers and Education Personnel in Mathematics. Both centres serve as centres of excellence in professional development of teachers and education personnel in science and mathematics. Yang Berhormat also took a closer look at the Young Explorers STEM Learning Expo and Assalam Kindergarten School.

 

The Minister of Education also visited the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement for Teachers and Education Personnel in Language. The visit was joined by the board of directors from the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Open and Distance Learning, the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Food and Nutrition, and the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Tropical Biology.

 

The visits ended with a courtesy call to His Excellency Professor Atip Latipulhayat, Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia to discuss the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Also present, His Excellency Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia.
